After recently aquiring a copy of your magical book, travelling around the
Bay Area of California and rediscovering the beauty and miracles of our
Mother Earth, I want to thank you for your visions and your words. My view of
"reality" had been battered and skewed after a difficult time in my life. I
lost some of my  connections to Her, and to a part of myself, and I felt
lost. Slowly I am regaining a hold on all that's important to me in my life,
on all the magic and love that is always around us. The satisfaction I can
get from watching something take form in my hands, from tending my garden to
feed my family, is so beautiful and unequal to anything I can find outside of
myself; all the unnecessary clutter slowly falls away to reveal what is real.
Your approach to living life, and your playful representation of it, is light
on my face and wind at my back, drawing me closer to how I think I can live
responsibly and respectfully toward all spirits of this world. Your book made
me smile and laugh, and I just wanted to thank you for that. My question was,
is there a recipe for the Earth Day Cake mentioned on page 161?

Much Love and Respect to you, my Beautiful Sister,
                            Erin Happy Mountain, age 20

Dear Erin:

Your letter makes me really happy.  Thank you so much for writing.  May I
post it in the October letters on my site?

"Earth Day Cake" simply meant "this is a page about making cakes".
Interestingly, the original LOTE was written and published before the first
Earth Day, so I was not referring to that event, since it did not yet exist.
I did get a clue about what an Earth day cake might be when my brother
described his ideal wedding cake to me:  "devilsfood on the bottom layer,
angelsfood on the top layer, and earth food in between."  He figured that
would be a dense, whole wheat, honey-sweetened carrot cake with lots of nuts,
seeds, and bits of dried fruit in it.

I hope we get to meet somewhere some day. You've got a great name!

Love

Alicia Bay Laurel

Thanks for coming to Lawrence.  I enjoyed your performance and talking to you
very much.  Kat loved the CD.  We tried to look at your tour diary on your
website, but nothing came up, no matter what we tried.  We want to see the
pictures!  Hope to see you when you're next in Lawrence.  If we can help
facilitate your next visit, let us know.
Best regards,
Dan Bentley  & Kat Greene

  Hey Alicia darlin -

Hope your Prescott gig was a good one!  Hope you're ok.  Our thoughts and
love are with you.  I got a response from Joanie sending her love & am
forwarding this from Shoshanna cuz it has her address.  The day you left, my
old good friend Joanne (of New Buffalo) arrived & we had another wonderful
visit.  She remembers your book well (& we were looking at it together).  She
also sends her warm regards even tho she never met you.  Her kids ALSO
colored in the book.  This whole episode has me in pondering mode (ponder
ponder) about what our tribe has done with extended family.  We PICKED our
family.  We really for sure did that!  THAT's our big legacy IMHO (well, you
know how uncle Lou had a new theory every week.  I'm like that too - trying
new theories on for size).  My current this week's theory is that the hippie
tribe did something that has never before been done under the sun - we
extended our families by choice.  More on this later (as i continue to
ponder).  Anyway, here's Shoshanna's post.  We absolutely loved your visit
with us & are honored that you came & you know you always have a place to
stay if you're ever traveling I-40 again.  Much love,

Pam

Hiya,

     Just got your message.

If you're still in touch with Alicia, please give her my fond regards
and tell her I'm so glad she has the energy to travel.

      much love, Shoshanna

  Dear Alicia,
I gave a class on aromatherapy at the Southold Free Library earlier this
month and I referred to your book because someone asked if it was possible to
make essential oils at home.  So I showed them the page on distillation on
the stove.  I gave out your cards.  Wish I had taken more when you offered
them.  Amazing how you knew all that at such a tender age.

Your cd is so joyous and real.  I'm enjoying it.

My daughter Mara is an artist too.  She painted a wonderful
Eve-like nude holding a paintbrush and an apple and titled it with a line
from a song by Ani Difranco  "... I just happen to like apples and I'm not
afraid of snakes..."  A snake entwines her left thigh and waist.  That was
her high school senior year final project in art.
My husband painted a wall in the living room to hang art work from family and
friends on and your watercolor  "Zephyr" will be up there too.  I love the
colors.

Keep singing and breathing and stretching.  Stay healthy.

                                                  Much love,  Ann Marie

Hi Alicia, goddess on the move!

At last, a moment for me to email before the girls find out where I am.Yes, I
moved the computer into the closet.About LaLa's tapestry of tantra. She says she
will mail you one from Boulder when she gets there sometime in Nov.So I want to
know if you would like a big one like the one you saw-6x2ft. or a smaller one
size 3x2ft. It is your choice, so I can tell Leilea. And should we mail it to your
Hawaii address?

We may have found our dream land on Mt. Desert Island near Bar Harbor,Me. So
hold the space for us on Divine Destiny coming true soon.

It is Halloween, and the girls just found me, so I must go and help them with
their costumes. Sophia [age 10] was going as Marilyn Monroe until she discovered no one in
her age group knows who she is, so now she is going as a hippy. I love it! Lily [age 5] is
a queen and not a princess as she affirms. By the way, Lily asks to play your CD
every day while I make dinner and she writes in her journal. We both love the
songs, and I smile, whenever she asks before I have a chance to put it on,and says
"That's my Taurus!"

I love you, Alicia, and think of you every day on your tour. Many blessings and
I'll write soon!

Love,

Chrissi

Dear Alicia:

Thanks so much for speaking at Forest Farm in this year's Monday Night Meeting Series!

Your presentation was captivating! Although I was born in the early 80's, I was drawn right into your story and followed it from the 60's to the present day!

Best of luck with your tour and with your new edition of Living On The Earth!
